Swim Up Hill Foundation Celebrates Founder Jamal Hill’s Story in New Peacock Original Series “ADAPTIVE”

Paralympic Medalist, CEO, and Social Impact Leader Featured in Groundbreaking Docuseries Premiering July 28

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — The Swim Up Hill Foundation proudly announces the upcoming premiere of ADAPTIVE, a bold new Peacock Original documentary series created in partnership with NBC Sports and DICK’S Sporting Goods, debuting July 28, 2025. The four-part series follows the intimate journeys of four elite U.S. Paralympians, including Jamal Hill, Swim Up Hill’s Founder, CEO, and a rising face of equity in American sport.

From medaling at Tokyo 2020 to leading a global movement ahead of LA28, Hill’s story is one of grit, vision, and purpose. ADAPTIVE captures his evolution not only as an athlete but as a changemaker, revealing the personal experiences and community challenges that shaped both his path and the mission of Swim Up Hill.

Jamal Hill earned Paralympic bronze at Tokyo 2020, becoming the first African American swimmer to medal for any country—his platform now fuels a global movement for access in aquatics.

“Swim Up Hill has always been about more than sport — it’s about teaching kids and families that they can persevere and thrive, no matter the currents they face,” said Hill. “ADAPTIVE shows the world why this work matters, and why representation and inclusion in aquatics are so urgent today.”

As the only African American swimmer to medal in the Paralympics for any country, Hill has redefined what visibility and leadership look like in the world of competitive aquatics. Through his foundation, he has committed to teaching one million people to swim every year by 2028, reaching underserved communities across the U.S. and Latin America with programs that combine swim education, health equity, and job creation.

ADAPTIVE is produced by Vitium Productions in collaboration with Angel City Sports, alongside Far Between Pictures and Cookie Jar & A Dream Studios. Backed by Peacock, NBC Sports, DICK’S Sporting Goods, and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, the series brings national visibility to often-overlooked stories and affirms Swim Up Hill’s mission to expand who gets to be seen, celebrated, and safe in the water.

Paralympians Jamal Hill and Ezra Frech reunite at the ADAPTIVE premiere. Both athletes are featured in the Peacock Original series and are using their platforms to drive access, equity, and visibility in sport.

This project is a collective effort, a celebration of the athletes who inspire us, the communities who support them, and the partners who make visibility possible. Swim Up Hill proudly recognizes Angel City Sports for championing adaptive athletes across Southern California and beyond.

With ADAPTIVE, the stage is now global. And as Hill trains for Paris 2024 and prepares to host the world in his hometown of Los Angeles for LA28, Swim Up Hill invites corporate partners, donors, policymakers, and fans to be part of something bigger than any race: a legacy of access, impact, and inclusion.
